Coffee Shop

What’s there to do on a boring rainy day? How about grabbing a friend, a book and then spend the afternoon at a coffee shop? Abby and Morgan seemed to make the best of that day even though there were plenty of eyes watching us shoot. The coffee shop was actually packed which made it quite challenging to shoot. It was kinda funny watching the by-standers attempt their poses…. I think secretly they wished their pictures were being taken….

These images were all shot with the available natural light.

Rushing Into The New Year!

Finishing the year on a high note and starting the New Year off & running!

The last two months of 2018 finished on a high note for me and my Senior Photography. I generally don’t enter competitions but on a whim I decided to enter Senior Style Guide’s Hot 100. At the end of August I submitted a few images having few expectations with less than fifteen minutes to spare at the deadline. Once I discovered that globally there were 8152 photographers submitting I lowered my expectations a little more.

On Wednesday November 21st, the day before Thanksgiving I received two notifications. The first notification was from The Twelfth Year, they were featuring one of my images on their site! That was completely out of the blue! About 30 minutes later I received notification that I was selected as one of the Top 100 Senior Photographers Globally! Senior Style Guides “Hot 100”!

I was pretty much at a loss for words in describing how that made me feel, but I was definitely Thankful and it came at a perfect time of reflection and in giving Thanks!

Since then I’ve been fortunate enough to have been featured four more times with the last one being today, New Years Day!

The last shoot of 2018 I did with any of my Senior Model Team members was with Chaney. On December 10th We had a blast shooting several different looks for the Christmas and New Years Holiday’s. From that session we’ve been featured on Senior Muse and Seniors Best! Images from that session are below. If you want to see the other images that have been featured you’ll need to go to my Instagram Page…. @jimtincherphoto

Tribal

Jim Tincher Photography Senior Model Team is Featured on the Seniors Ignite Website again this month!

It feels good to be featured again! This time the shoot theme is totally different from the others. I’m so happy that 7 of my 10 Senior Models were able to participate!. I can’t tell you how much fun this shoot actually was other than to say watching the girls getting into the concept was such a blast I almost forgot to shoot it!

This was originally going to be my submission for the “backlight” shoot and Fire was going to be how it was backlit. However we were rained out and didn’t get to shoot. Because the girls had put in so much effort I decided we would shoot it anyway as a fun group shoot. So the fires weren’t as big as previously planned.

About a week after we shot is when the challenge was announced and it was the color Red. I mulled it over and decided to submit even though red isn’t the primary color, it is still dominate. To my delight the shoot was accepted and featured on the Seniors Ignite Web Site as a “featured photographer”!

During the shoot I gave them no direction and left it up to them to do what they wanted to do. I can’t tell you how much fun they were having… Several of my seniors are dancers so they came up with tribal dance they did in addition to everything else. When it was time to end they didn’t want to end but eventually we got everything packed up.

The Challenge this month was the color Red!

Red is the color of extremes. It’s the color of passionate love, seduction, violence, danger, anger, and adventure. Our prehistoric ancestors saw red as the color of fire and blood – energy and primal life forces, war – and most of red’s symbolism today arises from its powerful associations in the past.

In Native American society the symbolism of face paint with red meant faith, beauty and happiness and its meaning as War Paint meant blood, violence and energy.

In the Tribal Shoot the color red is an accent color, though not much is used it is still dominant and striking. I worked with my designer (Kimberly Wade) to come up with the overall look I wanted with the costumes. However, I wanted my Senior Models to personalize what they wore to reflect themselves. Each piece was basically the same in appearance at first. During the fitting is when they would then reshape the skirt and top to their own taste. We then added the strips of fabric to create the shape of what they wore and accent it with the color red.

Staffs are a weapon and a status symbol denoted in how they are adorned. The symbolism behind the white face paint represents sharing, purity and light.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Photo shoots are fun and I can’t begin to tell you what a treat it was working with these four (Serena, Emily, Rachel and Taylor) who are my senior models. They were a blast to be around!

Serena and Emily are 2016 Graduating Seniors from Dunbar High School in Lexington. Rachel and Taylor are class of 2017 Juniors from Franklin County High School in Frankfort. Each of these four are amazing in their own unique way and I can’t wait to tell you their story.

The 12 Competition

I’m so stoked to have been selected as a finalist for “The 12”!!!
Senior photography at it’s finest!!!

I can’t begin to describe how excited I am at this very moment. Just a little while ago I received word that the Senior Session I had submitted for “The 12 Competition” has

been selected as a finalist in a National Competition!

Even if it goes no further than this and we don’t make it as part of “The 12” I consider it to be an accomplishment as this is my first year of having delved into Senior Photography.

You can see who the other finalist are at;

These next seven days will probably go by very slow…. fingers crossed.
