1950’s Fashion Extravaganza!

Several weeks ago I had the opportunity to do a promotional photo shoot for the “1950’s Fashion Extravaganza” being held at the Kentucky Theatre in early August. The show’s purpose is to raise funds benefiting The Ingenue Club Aspiring Arts Scholarship Program, more information can be found at http://lexingenia.com/

An interesting note is that the day of the shoot happened to be the 2nd anniversary of having done another promotional shoot with Soreyda as the designer both times and each shoot being held at the Kentucky Theartre!

The fashion show will be 6:30 PM August 4th at the Kentucky Theatre in downtown Lexington featuring fashions by Soreyda Benedit and Elizabeth Galacia.

Light Painting

Time has slipped past me, it’s been too long since I’ve posted.

I love light, playing with light and experimenting with light though too often I don’t show those results. Sometimes you think about a concept and then work it out in your head but then it takes awhile before you actually shoot it. Once you so the shoot sometimes you wait

to release and other times you’re busting at the seems to show it and other times it’s a process to figure how you want the final image to appear. This image is one of those shoots. We did this over a year ago but when it came to editing it, I’d start and stop numerous times. Always trashing and starting over. Today, I finally finished it. At first it seems to be a simple enough image but I can tell you that in reality this was a very complex shot. It is not a composite of any kind and it was shot with only one light. Those Nice Little Surprises

Aren’t little surprises great? Several weeks ago I (along with five other colleagues) was invited to have one of my photo’s as part of a permanent display for the Lexington Fashion Collaborative at LexArts in downtown Lexington. Wow…. talk about making my day!

It didn’t take but about a second for me to know which image I wanted for the display. It was one that I had shot with Gracie back in December. I did go through some of my other recent images that I really liked but I kept returning to this one.

Last night (January 23rd) at the first community meeting for the Lexington Fashion Collaborative for 2015 was the reveal of all the images going on display.

I’m thankful to be a part of this group, thankful for my friends and colleagues in this group, and thankful to Gracie for being such a wonderful model. I absolutely love working with Gracie.

Cheers!
