Project Beauty – Megan

In her own words

True Beauty-True Beauty originates from within. It is not being afraid to be yourself and love who you truly are.

How did not wearing any makeup make you feel?

Not wearing make up made me feel more vulnerable and open. I felt like all my flaws were being revealed, while at the same time I was feeling a sense of relief. It was a relief that I was enough exactly how I am. My flaws are what make me, me!

image_Megan_jim tincher photography_project beauty_pictureThinking about it, what did your session mean to you?

My session had a deeper meaning to me because I was doing something I love, while being allowed to completely be myself with no pressure or expectations from anyone.

What are your thoughts or how do you feel about Project Beauty?

Project beauty is a great initiative to bring awareness to the many difficult struggles young woman and girls face today. I think it is a great outlet to allow girls to support and empower one another.

Has this experience changed how you see yourself?

After seeing my photos from the shoot, they made me feel more comfortable in my natural skin and made me recognize that my flaws are what truly makes me a beautiful person inside and out.

Testimonial. Could you share your testimony?

After struggling with an eating disorder for over 3 years, I am recovered and free from the constant imprisonment of restriction, body shaming, and loneliness. When I first started modeling sophomore year of high school, I became more conscious of how I looked and started focusing on my diet and exercise. I started doing both of those in a healthy way and got to a healthy weight. It was not until the death of my grandparents that lead me to the beginning of my eating disorder. I had never personally experienced death in my life, so losing two of the most important people in my life within 6 months of each other was completely devastating to me.

Suddenly I felt completely out of control of my life and what had happened to me at that time. The one thing in my life that I felt like I was able to control was food, specifically what I would or would not eat. My eating disorder became my coping mechanism and numbed all the pain I was experiencing at the time. A simple thing I thought I had control over soon took complete control over me. My eating disorder robbed me of everything I loved; my family, my friends, my hobbies, my joy and was only leading to robbing me of my life as well.

Once I became aware and accepted that my habits and behaviors were a problem, I started going to an outpatient treatment center. My recovery was one of the most challenging things I have ever gone through in my life. There were many ups and downs throughout my recovery but with many therapy sessions, support from family and friends, and God’s endless love I was able to overcome my eating disorder. Through God’s unwavering gratefulness I have been able to turn something so terrible into something truly beautiful making me the woman I am today.

Project Beauty – Miranda

In her own words

True Beauty-Beauty is confidence in yourself. Being comfortable in your own skin and who God created you to be. It’s more than what the eye can see. Beauty is your heart and the way you treat others around you. Your outward appearance is only a plus. With a good heart you are just as pretty as the next.

image_Miranda_jim tincher photography_project beauty_pictureHow did not wearing any makeup make you feel?

It felt liberating!

Thinking about it, what did your session mean to you?

An encouragement for others in my community to have self confidence no matter what thy are going through.

What are your thoughts or how do you feel about Project Beauty?

This is a great way for girls to naturally express themselves while encouraging others to fight against perfection.

Has this experience changed how you see yourself?

No, however; it helps me to be reminded that our world of social media puts great pressure for perfection.

Testimonial. Could you share your testimony?

I’ve always been a believer of providing encouragement to others. In the past, this has been done through having a strong a faith, in my relationship with God, family, and friends. Being a senior model has just provided an additional avenue to express myself while encouraging others to do the same.

Project Beauty – Madison

In her own words

True Beauty- True Beauty to me is more about what it isn’t than what it is.  Beauty to me isn’t what most people think it is.  It isn’t the size of your pants, the flawlessness of your skin, how long your eyelashes are or if your teeth are straight or crooked.  Beauty isn’t how long your hair is or if you even have hair.  It isn’t what other people see when they look at you, what a photograph captures, or the reflection you see in a mirror.

True beauty cannot be seen.   Beauty is what people’s eyes can’t see but what draws them to you and makes them not want to leave.  Someone’s beauty is what makes you laugh, cry and feel safe when you are with them. Beauty is kindness, your sense of humor, generosity, natural talents, empathy and ambition.

True beauty cannot be judged in a contest and does not fade with age.  Beauty is what every person should aspire to have and to see in others. The measure of Beauty is how you can impact the world around you for the better and the respect you have for yourself.  Beauty is being authentically yourself and seeing the beauty in everyday things with deep appreciation.  When you are able to see the Beauty that can’t be seen, that is the definition to beauty.

image_Madi_jim tincher photography_project beauty_pictureHow did not wearing any makeup make you feel?

Natural and uninhibited. I felt like there was nothing being hidden, it was just me.

Thinking about it, what did your session mean to you?

It meant being comfortable in my own skin without having to be concerned with what I had on or if my makeup was on correctly.  I was able to show the unedited version of myself, someone Im pretty proud of.

What are your thoughts or how do you feel about Project Beauty?

Project Beauty is a great way to inspire girls and women to show their true selves and to be comfortable with their most natural state. It shows that even girls that they think look perfect all of the time really aren’t.  It means finding your inner beauty and confidence and helping others to do the same.

Has this experience changed how you see yourself?

It has made me more comfortable to be seen as just myself without barriers and know that I am beautiful regardless of the texture of my hair or face on any given day.

Project Beauty – Noelle

In her own words

True Beauty- True beauty is the beauty you radiate with out the distractions of hair and makeup products and expensive clothes. It’s the physically unalterable charm you show through your confidence and your unwavering kindness to others. Knowing that you are beautiful and appreciating everyone’s different beauty, shows true beauty.

How did not wearing any makeup make you feel?

Being without makeup is a freeing feeling.  Even though I have to admit I was a little nervous to see the images for the first time.

image_Noelle_jim tincher photography_project beauty_pictureThinking about it, what did your session mean to you?

This session showed me that I am enough and helped my confidence. It built friendships and a sense of comfort in my own skin.

What are your thoughts or how do you feel about Project Beauty?

I hope project beauty helps girls see that what we all know is “normal” is beautiful.  I hope all realize  we are more critical of ourselves than everyone else. When I look at others’ images. I see their true beauty and hope they see the same in me.

Has this experience changed how you see yourself?

Yes, it has helped me see that I don’t have to be filtered or airbrushed to be beautiful!

Testimonial. Could you share your testimony?

In my picture you may be able to see a small, light birthmark on my cheek. I’m named after my grandmother and we have exactly the same mark. My mother has always told me it is a beauty mark. I think it’s a cool mark that will always identify me with my Nana.

Project Beauty – Mallory

In her own words

True Beauty- -True beauty comes from the inside out. There is nothing more beautiful than someone who is 100% in their own skin.

How did not wearing any makeup make you feel?

To my surprise I actually loved this no makeup photoshop. It was so freeing to be naturally myself in front of a camera for the first time.

image_Mallory_jim tincher photography_project beauty_picture

Thinking about it, what did your session mean to you?

To me this session meant acceptance. Learning to accept the things that I’ve once seen as flaws and learning to love things I used to hide.

What are your thoughts or how do you feel about Project Beauty?

Project beauty was very special for me. I encourage everyone at some point to to do something out of their comfort zone. This shoot reminded me the importance of self love.

Has this experience changed how you see yourself?

This shoot changed how I view myself without all of the superficial aspects. Looks will fade but your inner beauty never will.

Testimonial. Could you share your testimony?

I challenge everyone to embrace who they are naturally. Like I said there is nothing more beautiful than someone who loves who they are, has confidence and loves their flaws.

Project Beauty – Autumn

In her own words

True Beauty- True Beauty to me, is someone who no matter their circumstances, is still good at heart. Someone who will give the clothes off their back to someone who has none. Life is too short to not do good deeds for people. My great grandmother always told me “pretty is, what pretty does.” I’m a firm believer in that quote. You can be absolutely gorgeous, but if you only care about yourself, your physical beautiful seems to be overlooked by others.

image_Autumn_jim tincher photography_project beauty_pictureHow did not wearing any makeup make you feel?

When I first found out about the no makeup shoot, I got a little nervous to be honest, because I usually have to wear lots of makeup for pageant headshots etc. Once I found out the meaning behind this shoot, I was all in for the natural look of this. It felt great to just show the world the real me.

Thinking about it, what did your session mean to you?

My session meant a lot to me. After seeing a few unedited pictures on the camera, I realized that true beauty from inside really shines through, everyone has qualities that make them beautiful. I think my shoot really showed my true character, and I couldn’t be more happy about that.

What are your thoughts or how do you feel about Project Beauty?

I feel Project Beauty was very necessary in this generation. Sooo many pictures are photoshopped, people are getting so many cosmetic procedures, everything in 2017 is based on how you look, and it leads to lots of pressure for teens. It’s such a great way to embrace natural beauty and show people who struggle with self image, it’s okay to be yourself.

Has this experience changed how you see yourself?

Yes, it has, After this shoot I felt very courageous for going out with crazy wavy hair, and no makeup, since lots of people nowadays would feel exposed if they did what I did. I learned that it is totally Okay to be yourself.

Testimonial. Could you share your testimony?

Growing up, I was severely bullied, I was taunted, my social media was hacked by “friends”, and I ate alone at the lunch table many times throughout my middle school years. I struggled so much with my image, and I eventually led into depression. Finally after having horrible middle school experiences, my mother moved me to a different school. Ever since I switched, I’ve been a happier person, being in a positive environment, has really helped me, I do not sit alone at the lunch table, I have friends, and I have a great role on our volleyball team. I learned that YOU are not the problem, it’s the people who make you feel down, who are the problem.

Project Beauty – Natasha

In her own words

True Beauty- is something that people don’t realize they already have!

How did not wearing any makeup make you feel?

Not wearing makeup made me very self-conscious because I have always been in an environment that girls or guys look weird without makeup. To me makeup is like a shield to guard from not only judgement but from my own self criticism.

image_Natasha_jim tincher photography_project beauty_picture

Thinking about it, what did your session mean to you?

This session meant a lot to me because it showed me that I’m not that ugly girl anymore but I’m a beautiful girl who should give less crap about what she looks like. As long as I know deep down I’m beautiful I feel like everything is going to be alright.

What are your thoughts or how do you feel about Project Beauty?

Project beauty is an amazing thing to me.  Not only does it show the model that they are truly beautiful it shows to other girls to get out of their comfort zones and show everyone no matter what they wear or look like they are the true definition of beauty.

Has this experience changed how you see yourself?

This experience greatly changed the way I see myself. I am no longer scared to run outside without makeup. If I ever have doubts, I think of the photos I took and remind myself that I am truly beautiful no matter who else says differently.

Testimonial. Could you share your testimony?

I feel like I could share my testimonial to other  girls and guys since I know I’m not the only person who has felt this way before. And if I ever got the chance again to share my story, I would hope that it would truly change the way they feel about themselves because in my eyes they are beautiful.

Project Beauty – Amber

In her own words

True Beauty- True beauty to me is not all about your appearances or physical features. True beauty is deep within a person, their personality, how they act and treat others.

image_Amber_jim tincher photography_project beauty_pictureHow did not wearing any makeup make you feel?

Not wearing any makeup makes me feel nervous because I feel like people will pick out every little flaw and not as confident.

Thinking about it, what did your session mean to you?

The session was lots of fun and it meant a lot to me because it opened my eyes that you don’t need makeup to feel beautiful!

What are your thoughts or how do you feel about Project Beauty?

I feel that project beauty is a great project to start because it’s encouraging girls to be more confident in their Own skin and feeling beautiful without makeup. Along with changing society’s views for the better.

Has this experience changed how you see yourself?

This experience has changed my view towards myself. I finally feel comfortable going out places without makeup, and still feel confident, not being worried about what others think!

Testimonial. Could you share your testimony?

My testimonial would be that I never felt confident enough to show my face or go out in public without makeup. Now I do because I’ve learned each and everyone is beautiful in their own unique way! Being a pageant girl there’s always the pressure to look flawless, but everyone has flaws and I’m okay with mine….

Project Beauty – Elizabeth

In her own words

True Beauty- True beauty is loving yourself and the skin you are in. It is finding joy in the person you are and allowing yourself to be happy. True beauty is the kindness that shows through in your eyes and the passions that are revealed in your smile. True beauty is knowing you were made perfect the way you are.

How did not wearing any makeup make you feel?

Not wearing make up was an uncomfortable feeling. Even though I stopped wearing make up that often after high school it took a long time to be comfortable and feel pretty image_Elle_jim tincher photography_project beauty_picturewithout it. I used to never be being willing to have my picture taken fresh faced without being embarrassed or feeling ashamed. Taking these pictures though I felt free from forced unrealistic standards and felt beautiful just being myself.

Thinking about it, what did your session mean to you?

To me my session represented the liberation I feel from my past demons. After suffering for years with an eating disorder and depression I am finally able to look in the mirror and love what I see. I am able to be confident in myself and happy with my life.

What are your thoughts or how do you feel about Project Beauty?

I adore project beauty. Everyone needs a reminder that it is okay to love yourself.

Has this experience changed how you see yourself?

This experience hasn’t changed how I see myself but it has strengthend my new found acceptance of myself and has allowed me to celebrate who I am.

Testimonial. Could you share your testimony?

I have always suffered from body image issues. I hit my growth spurts early so I was taller and more muscular than everyone in my class including the boys. I was always embarrassed of my body. I remember that I even got a pair of jeans I loved in 7th grade because they made my legs look short. Can you believe that?! My shoulders are wide and my thighs are big. I used to hate that, but now I realize my muscular legs allow me to run miles and ruck with the guys. My shoulders let me lift weights and do the sports I enjoy. My body has taken care of me and kept me alive multiple times through multiple illnesses. I spent years suffering from depression. Most days are good, but some are bad and very few are very very bad. The bad days are getting less and less though. I have learned that life isn’t always going to workout the way I planned and there is nothing wrong with that, and there is nothing wrong with me. Through the grace of God and the love I have received I have grown to accept and love who I am. For the first time in a long time I can look in the mirror and know that I am truly okay. I am happy and grateful for the blessed life I have been given.
